Bristol, in the south west of England, 1987. A group of outraged citizens has gathered at the home of esteemed barrister Guy Blackthorn, to express its concern about plans for a new development on Bristol waterfront. Peter Ringmellow, the young and thrusting CEO of Rip Ltd has put forward proposals for a large casino and gentlemen’s club on a strip of land next to the floating harbour which is growing in popularity for media and the arts. Guy is hosting the evening and the development will be discussed over dinner, along with a plan to stop proceedings at all costs. All at the dinner have a reason to prevent Ringmellow and his development; someone has already put in place at strategy that will take his life. Which of the guests is guilty of a West Country murder? Can you handle cider, with roguery?

Characters

Gertrude Lush (Gert)
Gert is a Bristol University student and lives in Redland. She comes from a very wealthy background and is a classic ‘Sloane Ranger’. She has a passionate nature and a strong social conscience.

Margery Hatcher (Margie)
A Conservative Party member and mum of four, Margie is asenior management consultant and lives in Westbury-on-Trym, an affluent Bristol suburb. She fronts a family values agenda for the Tories and has been strongly opposed to Ringmellow’s “immoral” new development.

Guy Blackthorn
Guy is the host for the evening, a wealthy barrister and resident of Clifton, the smartest district in Bristol. Guyobjects to Peter RIngmellow’s new harbourside development because it isn’t in keeping with the Bristol he knows andloves.
 
Kas (pronounced Cash)
Kas describes himself as a revolutionary artist and man of mystery. He keeps his true identity a secret and doesn’t talkto the press. He lives in the bohemian area of Montpelier and objects to the development because Ringmellow is “capitalist scum”.
 
Nicky Mallard
A local Bristol girl through and through, Nicky is a midwife and a big rugby fan. She is based in Knowle in south Bristol andlikes nothing more than a night out. She works in the centre and is concerned about all the traffic the new development will bring.
 
Justin Leek-Orange
Justin is a small time club owner and band promoter from the multi-ethnic suburb of Easton. He had his eye on the harbourside land for a new music venue.
